Michael Martinez

Michael Martinez

Housing Advocate

At a young age Michael Martinez started showing interest in activism and community.  With his roots going back over 200 years in the city of Burbank he was taught what it takes to adjust to growth and urban development.

Michael started attending his local City Hall council meetings early in his life and found a passion in government oversight.  Michael has been a state-registered Disaster Service Worker for over 10 years and holds the title of Community Emergency Response Team Instructor and Duty Officer with the Burbank Fire Corps Program (BFCP), a section of the Burbank Fire Department Emergency Management Division.  The BFCP is affiliated with the Federal Fire Corps program, as well as Citizen Corps in regards to the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and their mission. Michael has been awarded by the city of Burbank for Outstanding Service.  He has also had the privilege to take part in Burbank Community Police Academy which has allowed him to gain a better understanding of departmental operations.  This course is designed to familiarize citizens with the department’s community policing philosophy, internal policies, and the guiding principles of law and ethical conduct governing the delivery of police services.  With Michael’s closest friends all having disabilities, Michael knows the struggles persons with disabilities face especially when it comes to housing.

Michael represents many needed roles in this community as well as in hischurch.  We are glad to have Michael’s enthusiasm for community development on the CALIF team, and we are looking forward to him working with our consumers.
